SINCE PEOPLE FIRST DREAMED OF WHAT TREASURES LAY HIDDEN BENEATH OUR FEET

THEY HAVE BEEN ADORNING THEMSELVES WITH THE NATURAL WONDERS THAT THEY UNEARTHED THERE.

It is perhaps the earliest form of art. Taking what we discover in nature and using our creativity to turn it into something that will give us a unique, individual identity is an intrinsic part of being human. It allows us to show the world who we really are.

Over years of surfing and backpacking along the California coast I've found the abalone I use in my jewelry. Each piece has the unique finish of something shaped by waves and polished by time. I dig my opals from the ancient petrified forests that are now the Nevada desert.

My gems come from small family owned mines, rock collectors and my own explorations of the natural world.

I take stones that have been waiting millions of years in the earth, shape them into something beautiful and put them straight into your hands.

Jewelry is a celebration of the wonders our earth has created and the ingenuity and imagination of the people in it.

My pieces are shaped as much by the hand of nature as they are by mine.

Each stone is unique, I cut and shape them in a way that celebrates their uniqueness, rather than trying to make them as uniform as possible. Every one is a wonder of nature more unlikely than anything dreamed up by the wildest imagination, a chance confluence of minerals elements and circumstance, sculpted over millions of years.

I try to imagine what I could do that would possibly do justice to something perfectly created by time and nature. only then do I begin the long process of cutting and shaping them into gems that i hope will one day fill others with as much wonder as they give me. It is not the most profitable way to make jewelry. It is not the easiest way to make jewelry, but i believe it is the best way to make jewelry.

Every gem is one of a kind, not just in it's beauty but in how it went from being raw stone to a jewel. It's journey from being forged in the fires of the earth to being in your hands didn't involve harming the earth or hurting people in any way. I think that is true beauty.

I try to give such treasures the respect they deserve so that you can have something truly beautiful, a miracle of nature.
