BEAUTY IS NOT JUST WHAT THINGS LOOK LIKE, IT IS WHAT THEY DO.
I began making jewelry because I wanted to make art that had a real effect on people. I always wished that i could take art off the walls of the galleries,out from behind the closed doors of museums and put it in peoples hands. that's were art belongs, were it can do the most good.we think of the great masterpieces of painting and sculpture as being our most important works of art, yet for all the reverence we have for them most of us will see them only if we are fortunate. It is the things we see and wear every day that have the most potential to have an impact o our lives, that can change the way we think, the way we see the world and the way we live. If we are going to make art that can actually reach people this is the art we should be making.
The one piece of art that people spend more time with than any other is a ring on there finger that they barely even notice is there.
WHY NOT MAKE THE ONE WORK OF ART WE OWN SOMETHING TRULY EXTRAORDINARY, SOMETHING WORTHY OF THE TIME WE SPEND WITH IT. WHY NOT MAKE IT SOMETHING THAT CELEBRATES PEOPLE, THAT CELEBRATES OUR WORLD, THAT CELEBRATES YOU WHEN YOU WEAR IT.
My work is about creating something for people that is truly beautiful, in every way. That means not just how it looks but how it's made. Even the most beautiful thing in the world is not worth making if it causes even one person to live in suffering. so i make my work with thought and appreciation for the materials, their impact on the world and the people who will be wearing them.
